Hello Class of '65 Bulldogs.  On July 21, 2015, we held our monthly 50th reunion planning meeting.  Attendees included Kay Petracek, Sharon Erwin, Eddie Gallegos, Jim Hawman, Jim & Elaine McKinney, Sammy Montoya, Stevie Pack, John Pickett, Lynn Richardson, Frank Simpson, Ralph Smith, Jeanne Garland, Jerry & Charlotte Winans.

â�¢ The search for classmates continues with only about 180 not yet located.  Those researching and reaching out include Susan Arnold Jesinsky, Susie Ebbs, Ron Root, Phoebe Stages, Lynn Richardson, John Pickett, Ralph Smith, Judy Soesbe, Kay Petracek.

 

â�¢ Sharon Erwin, Ron Root, and Jim McKinney sent 280 copies of the newsletter and list of unfound classmates by USPS.  Additionally, 225 emails with the same attachments were sent.  Due to the costs incurred to use the USPS, the last newsletter will only be sent via email.

 

â�¢ Lynn Richardson reported on the Sunday Brunch (Sunday, Oct.11 at 10:00 AM).  At the next meeting she will provide to the committee a list of food, beverage and miscellaneous items that we still need for the brunch.  We also will need to get a process in place to determine the number of people attending the brunch.

 

� Kay Petracek brought samples of the decorations used by Class of �64; some were approved for revamping for our decorations for the Saturday night dinner at Picacho Hills. Sharon Erwin will head the decoration committee and will include Jeanne Garland, Charlotte Winans, and Stevie Pack.

 

� Stevie Pack met with Picacho Hills and reported on the room configuration. Picacho Hills will only charge for the total number attendees, instead of a minimum of 200. We need to provide the total number of attendees to their catering manager 2-3 weeks prior to the reunion.

 

� Rita Triviz has graciously volunteered to organize the LCHS Tour on Saturday afternoon and since school starts early August, we will likely have an update by the next meeting.

 

â�¢ Eddie Gallegos reported on the memorial event at the Veteranâ��s Park at 9:30 AM, Saturday, October 10.   Eddie Gallegos is in charge and is coordinating with the City of Las Cruces.  Eddie has obtained the podium and microphone.  John Pickett will give the invocation and there will be a wreath ceremony.

 

� The badges and the Goody Bags are all progressing and in good hands with Rita Triviz and Jerry and Charlotte Winans, and Jim McKinney.

 

� Kay Petracek will soon start contacting the 47 classmates that have indicated a desire to attend but have not yet secured their reservation with payment.

 

� Kay Petracek and Jim McKinney will compose an updated newsletter, but it will only be sent to those classmates that have email due to the cost of snail mailing.

 

â�¢ The next meeting is planned for Tuesday, August 25 at 6:00 PM at the Main Street Bistro.  We would love to have as many as possible in attendance, we always have a good time.
