08-29-2015 - Minutes for Reunion Meeting August 25, 2015
Hello Class of '65 Bulldogs....., August 25, 2015
We held our monthly 50th reunion planning meeting. Attendees included Kay Petracek, Sharon Erwin, Eddie Gallegos, Ralph Smith, Sammy Montoya, Jim Hawman, Lynn Richardson, Frank Simpson, Jeanne Garland, Stevie Pack, Larry Metz, Robert McKinley, Freddy Lucero, Rita Triviz, Mike Groves, Jerry & Charlotte Winans. (We missed Jim McKinney who is on vacation and attending Elaine’s 50th reunion).
• The search for classmates is drawing to a close. The status is only 150 are missing.  Many classmates have tirelessly tried to find the missing and our thanks go out to all involved.  Our focus has now turned to registering as many of those contacted.  At last count, we have 142 registrations.  This is short of our goal of 200, but we have a month to close the gap.  We urge everyone to register as soon as possible; we hope to have everyone registered by September 20.  We extended the discount for the duration, so NO increase in price of $85 per person.
• Jim Hawman graciously offered to man the registration table; we will provide volunteers to help, since it will likely be a two person job at least for the first hour or two.
• Mike Groves has also graciously offered to take a group photo on Saturday night at Picacho Hills. Mike is such a good photographer; he can make us all look twenty years younger.  My words, not his.
• Lynn Richardson reported on the Sunday Brunch (Sunday, Oct.11 at 10:00 AM). She was able to get volunteers to fill in the missing brunch items. The brunch menu is extensive and includes ham, numerous egg casseroles, roasted potatoes, hash browns, green enchiladas, beans, corn muffins, biscuits and gravy, French toast casserole, Cole slaw, deviled eggs, beverages and desserts. Since warming ovens are available, dishes need to be provided by 9AM to allow for warming. Also, if you are providing any other supplies, they should also be delivered prior to 10 AM. Lynn will meet with the principal of the old Court Jr. High in September to finalize the details.  We are expecting at least 75 at the brunch.
• Sharon Erwin, Kay Petracek, Charlotte Winans, and Stevie Pack met with Picacho Hills and finalized the room configuration. Picacho Hills will only charge for the total number attendees, instead of a minimum of 200. We need to provide the total number of attendees to their catering manager at least 10 days prior to the reunion. The decorating committee will meet to finalize the decorations.
• Rita Triviz reported that the LCHS Tour will be on Saturday, October 10 from 1:30 to 3:00. In order to have School Ambassadors as tour guides, we voted to donate $50 to the Ambassador program. Â
• Eddie Gallegos reported on the memorial event at the Veteran’s Park at 9:30 AM, Saturday, October 10.  Eddie Gallegos is in charge and is coordinating with the City of Las Cruces. Eddie has obtained the podium and microphone/speaker system. Thank you Eddie.  John Pickett will give the invocation and there will be a wreath ceremony and a Marine Honor Guard. The service will last 30 minutes, beginning at 9:30 AM on Saturday, October 10.
• The badges and the Goody Bags are all progressing and in good hands with Rita, Jim and Jerry and Charlotte Winans.  Included in the Goody Bags will be a Schedule of Events.
• Kay Petracek contacted the 37 classmates that had indicated a desire to attend but have not yet secured their reservation with payment. Of those, 24 say they are coming, 4 are not coming and 9 did not respond.
• The next meeting is planned for Tuesday, September 15 at 6:00 PM at the Main Street Bistro.  If you haven’t already sent in your payment, we would greatly appreciate you taking a moment to mail us a check for $85 for one person or $170 for a couple.  Send it to:
