Really enjoyed seeing so many 1965 grads at the reunion. The committee did such a great job putting this all together. The memorial service was very touching and warmed my heart. My husband serviced for 26 years through 3 different wars and I have one of my brothers on the wall. The tour of the school was really something else. Overall, I would say we were a great looking bunch. Lol Roberta Lucero Sewell - 10-17-2015
A big thank you to the reunion committee! It was great to see so many and spend most of the time reminiscing with friends.
The military tribute at Veterans' Park was a moving experience. Thanks to Johnny Pickett, Sammy Montoya, and others .
Yes, we've aged, but we still have that 'Bullog Spirit!' (Does anyone else want dance lessons from Kenny Heathman and his lovely wife.?!) Ken Heathman - 10-14-2015
I thought that reunion was pretty neat. Wished I had gone to my 30th now. The committee did a superb job of organizing and managing the events. Other than seeing and visiting with classmates; and by the way many of you have not changed very much, I was blown-away by that killer home-cooked brunch on Sunday at Court Jr. High. The recipes for those stunning dishes need to be placed on this website, if no where else, so the ladies receive credit for their artistry, and we can get a 'fix' when needed.
I'm hopeful there will be a 55th reunion. That would give me a good reason to return to Cruces, and probably the only opportunity to see some people that are very special to me. Don't change the agenda, or the venues. You nailed it. Well done! irene yolanda telles-giles - 10-10-2015
I am sad was not able to make this weekend. I wish one and all a great time! Hope to see more of ya on classmates. Dance one for me, Gene Duran, Sammy Montoya and all remember me! Go Texas U. Mary Wood Altus - 10-09-2015
When I look in a mirror I wonder who that old lady is looking back at me.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone....I especially hope some of my old orchestra buddies will show up. Sooooo many years have passed. Not even the horrific flooding taking place in Columbia, SC could keep me away from our reunion. (I just hope our home will be standing when I go home.)

LCHS Class of ‘65 Reunion
Newsletter for June
Hello from your reunion committee. The purpose of this newsletter is to inform you of the progress to date for your reunion. Updates will follow periodically.
The reunion is scheduled for October 9, 10 and 11. On Friday, October 9, we will start off the celebration at La Posta de Mesilla. Here you will receive your Name Tag which grants your admission to the Friday and Saturday night functions. This gorgeous place has been expanded and upgraded. Our reunion has reserved the Fiesta Room and Woodshop plus Overflow in Sunroom, Patio, Blue Room, Guadalupe Room and Tequila Bar. This will include a Cash Bar as well as a second bar for beer and wine only. There will also be non-alcoholic beverages provided at no cost. This mixer will be from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Although we have reserved this expanded area of La Posta, it will depend on the turn out. The planned nostalgic photographs and decorations are great.
Preliminary buffet menu includes: Chips and Salsa, Chile con Queso, Green Chile Chicken Quesadillas, Mini-Beef Flautas with Sour Cream/Guacamole, Shrimp Ceviche, Fruit & Cheese Platter, Assorted Mini Desserts and Sodas, Tea, Coffee, Water.
On Saturday, October 10, there are options for everyone: (1) the downtown Farmer’s Market located at the newly restored downtown Main Street. All types of food, art and craft booths are on display. It is a large market covering 4 city blocks and rated one of the best and starts at 8 AM. Some of our classmates participate weekly with their photographic art and farm grown products. There are numerous choices for lunch in the area. (2) Also, at 9:30 AM, we will be hosting a Memorial Event for servicemen from our class killed in Vietnam. This solemn event will be held at the Veteran’s Park, North Roadrunner Parkway. (3) In the afternoon there will be a tour of the high school, which is currently undergoing a dramatic renovation. The tour information will follow in the next newsletter.
That night, we will wine, dine and dance at the Picacho Hills Country Club which has the most beautiful view of the city. The menu is still under consideration, but promises to be tasty. The band is named “Remember Then” and will include music from our era. The festivities will start at 6 PM.
On Sunday at 10 AM, there will be a brunch at the Alma d’arte Charter High School (old Court Junior High) auditorium. This promises to be a tasty and entertaining event. The menu will include many breakfast and luncheon items and entertainment by Jeff Moore.

Had to leave the summer before our senior year when my dad retired from WSMR. Lynn and I are really looking forward to coming to the reunion!! Jeanette Rhyne Proctor - 07-19-2015
Sorry we won't be able to make it to the reunion. We are season ticket holders for University of Alabama football program and it's Homecoming weekend. Would love to see everyone but will just have to just send best wishes this time. Janice Hecker Neaves - 07-16-2015
I am looking forward to the reunion this year. Can't believe it's been 50 years! Linda Price Armijo will be my date. She left Las Cruces due to her Army dad and didn't graduate with our class, but remembers a lot of the crowd. See you soon. Neil Bromilow - 07-14-2015
When I saw the photos with of all the old familiar names, I had two thoughts. First who are all these old people and where did my receding hair line go. Second I owe too many of these people money, so I will unfortunately be unable to attend.
Linda (Russell) Romero - 06-24-2015
It just occurred to me that it has been 50!! years and thought I would check in. Susan Tillman Vasilakis - 05-29-2015
Tony and I will be there! Really looking forward to seeing as many as possible. Maria (Linda Barrios) Dupras - 05-12-2015
Hope to be there.
